Switching to LED Lighting – Economical and Environmental Advantages

Switching to LED Lighting Helps Reduce Environmental Impact

As a society, we already practice of a lot of things to help preserve the environment and reduce our impact. Switching to LED lighting is another great way to reduce environmental impact and save you money.

Switching to LED lights over the next two decades would save North Americans over $250 billion in energy costs, cut energy consumption in half and avoid over 1,800 million metric tons of carbon emission. Below are a few ways LED lights can have a massive impact on our planet.

LED Lights vs Traditional Light Bulb

LED lights are far more energy efficient than the traditional light bulb. Almost all of the energy in LED bulbs are converted to light, and only a small percentage of the energy converted to heat. An 84 watt light can be replaced by a 34 watt LED. Using less energy reduces our planet’s need for power plants decreases our already astronomical levels of greenhouse gas emissions!

There are no toxic elements to LED lights, when they (eventually) have to be changed you do not have to worry about special disposal – helping to protect the environment from further toxic waste!

LED light have better quality light distribution. Fewer lights are needed to achieve the same level of brightness, and fewer lights mean less energy consumption.

LED lights have a longer lifespan, which equals lower carbon emissions as they last up to 10 times longer than regular light bulbs, reducing replacement bulbs. Fewer lights have to be made, and fewer resources are used for manufacturing, packaging, and transportation. Let’s do our part for our environment! It’s a small change, but together, we can make a difference!
