Brian Kennelly, President and founder
A serial entrepreneur with a keen interest in science and all things technical and a passion for nature, renewable energy was the perfect fit for the next venture. After graduating from McMaster University in 1983, he spent many years in the financial and logistics industries before looking for the next big thing. Brian felt the time was right to dive headfirst into the renewable energy market and established Daisy Energy Inc in 2008. Learning on the job by doing and enlisting the help of many people much smarter than himself, Brian was able to complete many MW’s of green energy projects, helping large industry, small cottage owners and everyone in-between be more sustainable. Born and raised in Hamilton, ON, he now lives in the Niagara “wine country” and spends his off time enjoying nature (and wineries) and travelling with his wife.
Faycal Jaali, Project Manager, M. Eng
Faycal joined the company soon after completing his Masters in Engineering and has been an invaluable member of the team. He brings a strong analytical mind and superior organizational skills to an often hectic and stressed office environment, helping us all stay on task. Faycal is the go-to person for accurately completing the technical analysis of lighting retrofits, GA busting storage systems, solar projects modelling, and energy storage systems that allow us to help our clients understand the benefits of renewable technologies and see the financial rewards of going green. He also makes sure the projects are completed on time and budget.
Ray Tao, Senior Designer, Solar
Ray was one of the first “solar experts” Brian relied upon in the early years, and after stepping away from the solar world for a bit has agreed to be a part of the team once again. With a passion for green energy and a desire to see the Ontario economy and the rest of the planet benefit from the use of solar energy, Ray started his career in the solar industry with the launch of the Ontario Green Energy and Green Economy Act 2009. Initially spending two years with a German solar firm to learn not only the business of constructing solar projects but also the technical aspects of PV design. In 2011, with a partner, started a photovoltaic oriented engineering and consulting firm to help developers and installers build better quality and lower risk commercial solar systems in Ontario.
Working on 500+ residential and commercial solar projects over the last ten years, Ray has developed a clear process for evaluating solar technologies, determination of site requirements/constraints, development of engineering designs, project management, construction quality control and final project commissioning. Balancing financial requirements, quality and risk for clients have always been key to his approach in working on green energy projects.
Paul Bowes, Director of Business Development
Paul spent many years as a successful professional salesperson in the lighting, software and IT markets before joining Daisy Energy. His ability to deal with and relate to C-Suite executives as well as shop floor staff make him an ideal consultant, building trust and strong relationships along the way. His friendly manner and industry knowledge help him breakdown barriers and get to the heart of clients’ issues so he can find the solution best suited to each client. With a strong work ethic and continuous follow up, he ensures clients get the best value for their investment resulting in positive reviews from all his clients.
